Speaking at: Yorkshire Roadshow - Sheffield - 12 November 2013Robert leads a team currently developing Sheffield City Council’s ambitious energy refurbishment initiatives. This aims to build on Sheffield’s award winning Free Insulation Scheme that has covered over 80% of the city’s private sector homes during the last 4 years. This is part of a strong decentralised energy strategy that also aims to reduce carbon emissions through greater use of localised heat and energy generation. Sheffield has one of the UKs most developed heat networks with significant work being planned to expand and strengthen this.
He graduated with an engineering degree, and following further postgraduate study also held housing management and strategy roles at Sheffield Council and a number of Housing Associations. In his current post he has helped initiate a wide range of energy efficiency, carbon-saving and fuel poverty projects, including a number of renewable energy initiatives.
His passion is to creatively enable solutions that ‘get things done’ using the best combination of skills, knowledge and resources - whether based in the public, private or voluntary/community sectors.
