Rachael Hickman

Programme Manager
Greater London Authority

Speaking at: London Roadshow - Islington - 6 December 2013

Rachael joined the Greater London Authority (GLA) in July 2011 when the Climate Change Programmes transferred to the GLA from the London Development Agency where she had been working since September 2009.  She is responsible for delivering RE:NEW a pan-London home retrofitting programme.  As part of this programme, the GLA has established the RE:NEW Support Team, which works to implement domestic retrofitting activities in London in order to reduce carbon emissions.  The team supports social housing providers and local authorities through providing support in tendering services, to enable domestic retrofit projects be delivered faster, bigger and with better value for money.

Prior to working at the LDA and GLA, Rachael spent 6 years with Impetus Consulting.  At this environmental consultancy she worked on a number of projects focusing on supporting local authorities to tackle climate change.  Rachael managed the Energy Saving Trust’s Practical Help Service – an advisory service for local authorities and housing associations on domestic sustainable energy.  She also facilitated several events for organisations including DECC and the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes, covering key strategies and implementation mechanisms such as the Household Energy Management Strategy and the Community Energy Saving Programme.
