Turney Wylde are a local SME company with family values and traditions, we are customer focused with a culture based on trust and honesty, delivering through local labour, who we train and develop within the company.
Our current business activities are acting as general building contractors and developers with, historically, an area of operation focusing on Teeside, Tyneside and throughout Durham and Northumberland. We undertake new construction work as well as the modernisation or alteration of educational, residential, commercial and industrial premises with projects up to a value of £7.5 million.
Within our company structure we have an established division in Turney Wylde Facilities, which is a dedicated to specifically deal with Repairs and Maintenance contracts and small works. We have carried out a number of these types of contracts over the years. We have established dedicated management to service this division fully supported by the existing company infrastructure, and also benefiting from the company on-site Joiners Shop, Plant Maintenance Facility and a fleet of company owned vehicles.
Our client base is almost exclusively public sector organisations who are involved in the provision of social housing, education and public facilities or health related projects. Much of the company’s success to date has been due to the stability of its workforce and the expertise of the tradespersons and staff, over 40% of whom have been with the Company in excess of 20 years. As a local Company we are particularly focused on preserving and developing our regional customer base.
We currently employ 48 staff, of which over 35 are tradespersons of varying disciplines. We are also proud of our record of bringing apprentices into the business. We have a long established and mature supply chain with whom we work closely to deliver the more specialised trade packages and the supply of materials for our projects. We constantly benchmark and measure the performance of the supply chain to ensure that standards are maintained and that any efficiency’s and gains are passed through to our clients At Turney Wylde Construction Limited we are focused on creating effective long term partnerships with local authorities, housing associations, public sector and commercial clients.
The company’s collaborative and positive approach to service delivery and problem solving has led to the creation of several strategic partnerships with clients such as Sunderland University and Newcastle Council, as well as joint ventures with other organisations in the redevelopment of problem sites. The achievement of best value through the partnering ethos is a logical and natural progression which bonds seamlessly into the Company’s policy of innovation, service and the collective pursuit of agreed goals.
